Drawing on the research evidence, Disciplinary Literacy and Oracy in Primary Schools offers both theoretical and practical examples of how to support primary pupils in reading, writing and speaking across the subject disciplines. It incorporates how this might relate to the curriculum in the early years. The book is positioned within the lens of a teacher in primary education. Shareen Wilkinson outlines the ways in which teachers can support pupils to read, write and speak like scientists, geographers and historians, and explores other areas across the curriculum. This book is essential for all senior leaders, teachers, curriculum leads and English leads who are passionate about enhancing the curriculum through literacy for all pupils.
Shareen is an experienced primary school teacher (QTS) and senior leader, and is currently a leading English and assessment adviser for a successful education company in London.
