This Chinese proverb introduces a collection of essays by eminent Headmistresses which was first published in 1937. 

These remarkable and dedicated women, with their high ideals and intellectual strength, provided a far-sighted vision which helped to shape contemporary attitudes. Much of what they said still applies.
