Founded in 1959 to provide services for schools, today John Catt is principally engaged in the publication of books, directories, educational guides and magazines specifically aimed at the independent schools’ market.

We are proud to support and work in conjunction with the major independent educational organisations: Boarding Schools Association (BSA), Council of International Schools (CIS), European Council of International Schools (ECIS), Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC), Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS), the International Baccalaureate (IB), The National Schools Symphony Orchestra (NSSO), and Support and Training in Prep Schools (SATIPS).

For many years the main office was situated in a converted Victorian schoolhouse in Suffolk, but in August 2008 we moved to new offices in Melton, Woodbridge.

The company is international in aspect and serves clients from around the world. Our products are similarly distributed worldwide and the internet enables us to continuously transmit up-to-date information 24 hours a day.
